Crescendo (Art Fight 2026)

An illustration I made for Art Fight 2026, a fun little event where you draw other people’s OCs, and others draw art of your OCs also.

This depicts purpurosea’s Crescendo, a Gardevoir gijinka.

I hadn’t drawn anything for Art Fight in a little while and I wanted to just hammer something out, so I didn’t do anything too crazy.

I’ve never particularly enjoyed doing lineart on top of my sketches, partly because it just takes such a long time. It feels like I’m re-hashing something I’ve already done. I know it’s not wasted effort, but it’s still psychological drudgery.

To try to solve the time problem, I’ve decided ironically to add a phase where I do a cleaner sketch on top of my first sketch, then do the lineart on top of that.

I’m not 100% sure if that’s actually saved me time overall, but at least the lineart feels a little quicker, since sketch #2 is a lot cleaner than sketch #1.
