Cassia (Art Fight 2026)

An illustration I made for Art Fight 2026, a fun little event where you draw other people’s OCs, and others draw art of your OCs also.

This depicts JollyYoshi’s Cassia Zoticus, a space pilot from the farming planet Agroktima.

Boy did this take a hell of a lot longer than I through it would. I don’t draw enough backgrounds, even if it’s a very simple scene, so I made myself draw one as practice. I wanted to do something with a bit of tension― get that ol’ Dutch angle in― and something with dramatic lighting without making it too complicated.

Cassia is from a setting of JollyYoshi’s own stories which I haven’t read, so I took some design cues for the background from my favorite live action sci-fi franchise, Star Trek, with a nice little Okudagram right on the wall.

LCARS never looked like a very pleasant to use UI design language to me, which is fine for the show where all the actors just have to randomly tap the interface without thinking too hard. There’s elements of it I think are cool though, like its iconic swoopy, organic buttons, and I feel like if it were cleaned up a little, it could actually be usable.
