Bunny Cecilia 2
Date:
I’ve been doing a few illustrations on commission and for collab projects throughout August, and I’m going to be drawing something for another collab soon. In the middle of all this, I really wanted to draw something just for myself. I like doing comms and collabs, but sometimes a man needs a change of pace.
I recently rediscovered the artist 108号 (of the doujin circle Slice Slime), who drew an absolutely amazing (and very NSFW) cover to their Infinite Stratos doujin How To Train Your Rabbit. I first saw the cover a long time ago, and I think it’s the reason I drew Bunny Cecilia 1 in 2023.
I decided to draw Cecilia again, partly to see how I’ve improved and partly to try out some techniques I don’t normally do. Instead of going from sketch to lineart to color and rendering, I did the sketch, then color plus really rough light and shadow, then the lineart. The idea was to see if it would make me draw thinner lineart, maybe with less hatching, which I normally like to do. It worked, kinda, but the effect is not huge.
It did make me try doing colored lineart again. I had this phase in late 2024 and early 2025 where I tried to do pretty clean lines and colored lineart (e.g. Green Travels), and I decided that it wasn’t really working for me. But this time, when I’m doing lineart on top of color, I start noticing that the lineart clashes with the nice colors I put down. To remedy that, I turned alpha lock on for the lineart layer and started re-coloring it.
Recently, I’ve been playing around in Cyberpunk 2077’s Photo Mode, and I only really discovered how fun it can be when the game makes you take a picture with the Us Cracks in Kerry Eurodyne’s questline. There’s all these camera settings and you can set up lights of different colors and stuff. The light positioning UX is a little clunky, and I wish my computer could run the game smoother, but it’s actually a pretty cool way to experiment with photography without actually leaving your home.
I mention this mainly because it made me try some bolder lighting, with this big spotlight on Cecilia like I did in a few glamor shots in Photo Mode. I might play around with more lighting in the game and see if I can apply that in my illustrations.
